Room 4231- 631.632.9692

Grady Gerbracht is an artist whose work focuses on the ordering systems of everyday life. Inspired by personal observations and life experiences; Gerbracht’s projects employ art, architecture, sound and social dynamics to render these systems temporarily visible. He organizes events for Nomads + Residents and serves on the Board of Trustees of the FLUXART Center for Digital Art. His projects have been published and exhibited in the U.S. and abroad. He recently organized Back and Forth, a series of exhibitions involving notions of commutes and itineraries. He co-curated Global Priority, an exhibition that explores how artists are responding to the accelerating hybridization of identities in relation to dispersed flows of economic and cultural values that is currently traveling internationally. Recent artworks include Site&Sound, a series of events which examine the border between performance and everyday life. The artist records sonic portraits, which capture the unique acoustic characteristics of each site as he performs these unusual architectural spaces with his body. Sound compositions derived from the performances are later re-inserted into the original context.
