Stephen Nash is a native of Great Britain and a graduate of the Natural History Illustration Department of the Royal College of Art in London, and has been Scientific Illustrator for Conservation International since 1989, producing images for conservation education and biological publications. (Conservation International is a nonprofit organization which applies innovations in science, economics, policy and community participation to protect the Earth's biodiversity.)

Nash's long-standing ambition to produce illustrations of every species and subspecies of nonhuman primate has already resulted in field guides and other identification aids now being used in Vietnam, Brazil, Suriname, Colombia, Madagascar and the countries of South Asia. The first of a five volume series of books on all of the world's primates is due to be published in early 2008, as is a guide to the tortoises and turtles of Madagascar and the Indian Ocean islands.
