JASON PARADIS, Adjunct Lecturer, M.F.A. Stony Brook University From Canada, Jason Paradis now lives and works on the North Shore of Long Island. His work is made from the visual interpretation of systems and the association of these systems to personal experience. There is a sense of contemplation or of reverie that speculates on a fundamental mystery - this being the result of a lot of camping in the northern Canadian wilderness under an expansive sky. Some work become an installation or assemblage that activates the surrounding space. He is very interested in a moment where the past, present, and future collide. His work has been displayed is several exhibitions in and around New York City as well as across the United States and Canada. Among these are New York area galleries such as White Columns, Jessica Murray Projects, Cynthia Broan Gallery, Marcus Ritter, and Gallery @ 82. Other venues include the Islip Art Museum, Virginia Tech, and the Museum of New Art in Detroit. He received a BFA from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, an MFA from Stony Brook University, and attended the selective Artist in the Marketplace (AIM) programhosted by the Bronx Museum of the Arts. |
