STALLER STUDIO FACILITIES

Studio facilities at Staller include spacious painting, drawing, and studio classrooms.

Our metal shop includes a Johnson gas forge, MIG, TIG & oxygen-acetylene welding equipment as well as a variety of industrial shears and plasma cutter. Pneumatic die grinders, electric chop saw, angle grinders and sanders are a few of the power tools
available for student use. Our gas furnace foundry is equipped with crucibles with a pouring capacity of 180 lb bronze, and state of the art ceramic shell facilities.

Ceramics and ceramic sculpture studio includes a dedicated kiln room with computized electric kilns and manual gas kiln. Raku kiln firings take place during the spring in our adjoining outdoor sculpture space. Students employ every conceivable method of complex clay construction using: the slab roller, clay extruder, mold making, slip casting and wheels. There is also an area for glaze making, a glaze test kiln and a pug mill for clay recycling.

Printmaking studios include etching, stone lithography and photo plate making and screen printing facilities, including an Etching-American French Tool press, 2 Charles Brand presses, aquatint box, letter press, Lithography-Charles Brand electric press, 2 Rembrandt presses, large assortment of litho stones.

Extensive digital facilities and software over five specialized labs and two large teaching labs with video, audio, sensor, and digital still equipment checkout allowed in some courses.

A shooting studio with two full complements of lights, one a white wall with grey floor and large roll paper backdrops and the other a green screen for digital keying for video shoots.

Photography facilities include gang and individual darkrooms.
